INFORMATION ON MOSQUITO CONTROL AND REPELLENTS

The City of Edinburg Solid Waste Department is monitoring the mosquito problem and working to get it under control. In the meantime, they have some tips to help you protect yourself from mosquitoes.

Don’t leave out any items that can collect water in your yard. Keep brush and grass trimmed and mowed.

Choose a mosquito repellent that lists DEET as an active chemical ingredient. The higher the percentage of DEET, the longer the repellent works. Use a repellent with a higher concentration of DEET if you plan to stay outside all day. Lower concentrations are acceptable when you will only be outdoors for a few hours.
